for sale: egg chair

June 17th, 2007   Filed Under dad, fun, homevideo

On one of my homevideo tapes, I discovered an example of my father’s great salesmanship. In 1979, he made a video showcasing an egg chair he wanted to sell. My father makes a compelling argument for the chair, all without words:

I placed the subtitles yesterday, all but two of which were taken verbatim from a typed sheet of paper filmed before this footage. I think this is video he wanted to make; it just needs some piece of music backing it, though I don’t know what that would be.

Enjoy! (But sorry, the chair was sold long ago.)

video of me at 4 years old

I recently paid Midwest Productions to digitize our Betamax home videos onto DVD, which costs around $10 per hour of footage. Here’s a clip of me using my father’s first computer, a TRS-80 Model I, at the age of 4. (My father, the voice behind the camera, says in the video that I am “four and a half”, but a title screen just prior to this footage says “September 1980″ which would have been a few weeks before my 4th birthday. I think he probably meant to say “three and a half” and just misspoke.)

Enjoy!
